JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Casual Program Leader

 

Reporting to

The Program Coordinator - Boys & Girls Club of Airdrie

 

Areas of Authority

The Casual Program Leader will be responsible for assisting Program Coordinator in the implementation and evaluation of social recreational, educational programs for children and youth aged 6 -  17 years old focusing on social skill development and individual self esteem enhancement. They may also be responsible for supervision of program volunteers.

 

Key Responsibilities

¡ñ     Deliver social recreational and educational programs for children and youth aged 6 - 17 years old focusing on social skill development and individual self esteem enhancement

¡ñ     Daily management including cleaning and ensuring facility safety

¡ñ     Ensures participant safety

 

Skills

¡ñ     Minimum Child Development Assistant (Level 1) or ability to complete Child Care Orientation Course

¡ñ     Knowledge of social skills, self esteem enhancement and child development

¡ñ     Previous experience with children and youth

¡ñ     Excellent communication and organizational skills

¡ñ     Able to work with little or no supervision

¡ñ     Current first aid certification at a Standard First Aid level

¡ñ     Ability to produce acceptable a RCMP Criminal Record Check, Driver Abstract and Child and Youth Information Module check

¡ñ     Reliable vehicle

 

Hours of Work

Part-Time: On ¨C Call, short term coverage

 

Wage Rate

$12/hour

 

 

Probationary Period

There is a three month probationary period.  An evaluation will be done after this time to determine if the employee should continue employment.  If employment is continued, regular performance evaluations will be done on an annual basis

 
  • Volunteer Opportunities
    We have many volunteer opportunities suitable for adults and youth 14+ years old. These include direct service in After School Programs, Summer Camps etc., Board members, fundraising/special event planning, repair and maintenance, administrative and many other duties.
    Commitment can be anywhere from a one time basis, ongoing or yearly.
